It’s College Radio Day

It’s College Radio Day, an idea from the genius and friend of the Ramble, Rob Quicke.

So … break out your pre-Green R.E.M., and your Replacements, and your Cure, and your old Plimsouls, and your Smiths and let the early spirit of college radio reign … or you could just turn off your iPods and turn your dials a little to the left on your way out and about today.

In the meantime, here’s a couple videos. The first is The Replacements’ “Left of the Dial” (sung here by former ‘Mats himself, Paul-Freaking-Westerberg), which seems appropriate for the day.

This one is from Strong Bad, talking about radio. College radio: “Dead air … uhm … dead air.”
