I cannot remember a time when a movie went from being so spine-tingling, so hair-on-the-back-of-your-neck-raising, so tense to being so dang gay. I mean, really, the Ghost insertion at the end? Really?
And don’t even get me started with the deus ex machina. It reminded me of that part in Adaptation where Kaufman goes to the writing conference and talks to Robert McKee, which, oddly enough, is only uploaded in Spanish on YouTube …
I really couldn’t have said it better myself.
Anyway, The Lovely Bones is a movie based on a best-selling book that I didn’t read, so I didn’t have any preconceived notions, which is a pretty good thing. However, the movie did not motivate me to read the book either, so, that’s probably a drawback.
But I did appreciate Mark Wahlberg’s hair.
