Who would’ve thought rocker Lou Reed was such a visionary?
I remember this Honda Scooter commercial from the mid- to late 80s. Now, 20-some odd years later, past the era of screaming “Sellout!” and straight into the new economy of bands making their break through television commercials, this one still stands out.
Was it the first? I don’t know, but, it rivals anything that’s out there now. It set the bar (yes, even higher than the Led Zeppelin 2003 “Rock-n-Roll” Super Bowl commercial).
So, congratulations, Lou Reed. You saw an opportunity and paved the way to a new economy.
