Martin vs. Murray: Box Office

I’ve always had an imagined debate in my mind over who’s had a bigger impact on entertainment: Steve Martin or Bill Murray.

I know, I know, most people would not hesitate to vote for Bill Murray, but, looking at the breadth of their careers, maybe Steve Martin has more to offer.

Today, though, the debate centers on top box office movie gross.

According to some lazy research, Steve Martin’s top box office film was 2003’s Cheaper by the Dozen. It grossed $138,614,544 domestically. Bill Murray’s top box office film was 1984’s Ghostbusters. That film grossed $238,632,124.

Cheaper by the Dozen vs. Ghostbusters. Which film has had more of a cultural impact?

Winner: Bill Murray.

Score: Murray 1, Martin 0.

Speaking of Ghostbusters
