I call it the pause that refreshes.

There’s a part of this song where Dylan seems to hesitate, just for an instant (of course, I could be imagining it). It’s at the end of each verse, but seems especially pronounced in the last one:

In this world where we try to fit as many words in as little space possible, here’s a example of the power of keeping your mouth shut.

A Bob Dylan researcher (yes, there are such things) could wax poetic about how that little hesitation is what makes Dylan great. I don’t know about that, I just know that at that moment, I smile and know exactly what he’s feeling …
